California Academy of Sciences open
At Thinc Design, Chris Cummings (A'99) designed exhibits for the Steinhart Aquarium at the new California Academy of Sciences, which opened in September 2008.
The building itself is highly praised for various green features such as it's unprecedented use of recycled material, living roof and other sustainable design features. Chris was involved in developing and installing exhibits for the Academy's walk-thru rainforest, 20,000 gallon living coral tank, and the Water Planet, an exhibit that combines live animals, immersive video and interactive media to highlight the ways in which life on earth has adapted to all of the conditions of water.
