Carlos Armesto announces the launch of Theatre C

Dear NYDAC  members,

I hope this letter finds you well as the new season arrives. I am writing because I have big news. 

I'm starting a theatre company!

...and I want to invite you to its first benefit and launch - and offer you a special ticket price.

Theatre is evolving into a medium of mixed disciplines, and the line is fading that separates theatre, dance, film, sculpture, music, circus or even sporting events. I want to be a part of that evolution - in a very focused way. That's why I'm creating THEATRE C, a fusion of forms, including puppetry, burlesque, installation, video, hip hop, projections rock concerts, dance and much more! THEATRE C will engage, absorb, rattle and excite in unusual ways. We have already commissioned a play and a musical, and we are developing two other pieces this season.

This dream has been gestating within me for many years, and the time has come to activate this dream. To celebrate the birth of THEATRE C, I'm inviting you to our event, which we call ACTIVATE! The festivities will take place at The Barrow Street Theatre (27 Barrow Street)in the West Village of New York on Monday, November 2, 2009 at 7:00 PM. ACTIVATE! will be a cocktail party, with hors d'ouvres served. At 8:00 PM, we'll start a one-hour performance where you will see and hear:

· Sammy Buck, the award-winning writer of LIKE YOU LIKE IT, serving as emcee...

· "Gangs" wailing their hearts out in a number from the powerful musical KINGDOM...

· Dancers from the Bessie Award-winning company THIRD RAIL PROJECTS careening to a bluegrass soundscape...

· Nitya Vidyasagar from SESAME STREET frolicking with puppet monkeys...and a new love interest...

· Acrobats from the amazing FUERZABRUTA pirouetting in a live installation...

· An Orphean multi-media rock extravaganza by christopher oscar peña and Parker Ferugson..

· A solo exploration of extreme movement by Jesse Zaritt, formerly of the award-winning SHEN WEI DANCE COMPANY...

· surprise guests and more!

Tickets are $100 each, and can be purchased online at theatrec.tix.com. But because you have been deemed an F.O.C. (Friend of C), your ticket price is only $35. Choose the regular admission ticket, and when you check out, you'll be prompted for a promotional code. Enter the code FOC to get the discounted ticket price.
